Thoughts on Directing After Directing

Pensive Directing

I’ve only briefly mentioned the production of my thesis (the fictional one), and after having about a month to think it over, and finally seeing the dailies four weeks after filming (monthlies?), I have an idea of where I stand with the outcome.
Mainly, as directing goes, I had a blast. I know, it’s a [...]

The Most Amazing Diet - Direct a Film

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I can’t remember the last time I’ve had less of an appetite. It’s the stress that’s been getting to me. There was a slight crumbling of the world today.

The strange thing about seeing the footage, though, is earlier in the afternoon we had spent a [...]

Office Director

Monday, February 4th, 2008

So I directed a movie. Last week had to be the busiest I’ve experienced while at Film School. On Thursday I had breakfast and didn’t eat again until 9:30 pm. And I was never hungry.
The film went off quite well. We got a total of about 60 setups in two days. 20 a day [...]

Prepare to Sell Your Soul

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Today is Director’s Prep for my film, and the last for the F3 cycle. Between Production Design and Directing, these past two weeks have been the busiest yet.
I feel slightly unprepared, mainly because I have no cast. But I do have locations, and they’re great, so that’s something. We’ll see how this goes.
