What is Coffee and Celluloid?

Coffee and Celluloid started as a blog on my experiences as a film student at the FSU Film School. Since graduating, it’s evolved into my adventures in starting my film career, as well as a forum for other filmmakers to chime in with their filmmaking and film business experiences. We also have interviews, videos, and commentary on new media, indepenent film, distribution, and just about any topic that relates to filmmaking and independent film careers.

Who Am I?

I’m Joey Daoud. I was a film student in the FSU Film School from 2006-2008 (the film school is a rigid 2 1/2 year program. My actual college time was from 05-09). Since graduating I’ve been working on my first feature documentary Bots High, which follows high school kids build kick ass robots (due to hit festivals early 2011). I also made a short documentary for my Honors Thesis project on life hacking and work culture called You 2.0.

For some backstory from when the blog started, check out The Story So Far and My Life For The Next Two Years.

If there’s anything you’d like me to talk about, I’m always open to suggestions.

What’s a C47?

C47

A C47 is a fancy name for a clothes pin. Lots of regular items have fancy names on movie sets.
